I have enjoyed the information sharing and support. There seems to be a wide variety of health issues but D is the most discouraging thing people seem to be dealing with and pain.
It's good to find somewhere with all the information I needed in one place. It helped me enormously when I was struggling to get the help I needed from my doctor.
There is a wealth of information on your site and I found it particularly helpful to read the stories from people who I know went through the same thing as me.
I've found the site very informative and it helped me to better understand my condition just after I'd been diagnosed.

Bile Salt Malabsorption affects everyone differently. These stories, written by members of the BSM Facebook group, show how they came to have the condition, how it developed, how it affects them now and how they cope with it on a daily basis.
Since my surgery I have been left with extensive bowel problems and over the past two years I have had constant diarrhoea which is chronic and most days and it’s pure water. I get 20 seconds to get to a toilet and I have the same pain for Wind, Bowel Movement or Sickness so I am unsure of which I need to do. I keep having accidents as I am unable to get to the toilet quickly enough. When the diarrhoea starts I can be stuck on the toilet for 1-
In early may 2012 after months of trips to my GP I was diagnosed with IBS. Unfortunately this was not the case and I spent several + weeks in chronic pain and had to have emergency bowel surgery to correct a bowel intussusception. My bowel telescoped causing a major bowel and intestinal blockage. Basically my small bowel got trapped inside my large bowel which got stuck causing a large blockage in my intestine. My bowels were taken apart and re-
I can feel my stomach and my and ribcage filling up with air which is extremely uncomfortable and painful. my stomach severely bloats and pushes out due to such a large volume of air. The wind I expel smells totally disgusting, very sulphur like and smells of a mixture of rotten eggs and rotting food. I have been burping foul smelling gasses for several months. I can't stop myself from burping as it comes out with great force and if not expelled the pain is unbearable. I have no control over the process. I hardly leave the house in case I mess myself or start to get flatulence.
I wake up in the middle of the night coughing and choking on stomach acids and have to get up and be sick until the acids have reduced on to of drinking lots of gaviscon to reduce the acids were awake until its reduced then I get diarrhoea as my body tries to clear the acids
After speaking to the consultant it has become apparent that I am suffering from reoccurring bowel and intestinal obstructions, I am on average once two three times a week suffering the same pain and need to be sick right down to my stomach acids which takes hours. Prior to this I am suffering chronic diarrhoea with foul smelling burps and sulphur smelling flatulence.
The consultant explained that all my faecal matter is passing into my intestine but unable to go through into my bowel as it’s blocked due to a narrowing of my intestine due to scar tissue. An overflow of faecal matter is whooshing past the obstruction and shooting out so quickly which I am unable to control it. At the same time the food I am eating is unable to be digested properly and is being vomited back up with such force that it hurts my rib cage and back, my stomach burns due to acids and I am totally exhausted, this has been happening once a week or so for the several months.
Finally after nearly 18mths of total suffering and hospital admissions my GP referred me to gastro. Since all of notes were already there, it was easier for them to diagnose me. I had 14% of my bowel has been removed illium and iliotic valve. I do have my gall bladder.
I have a diagnose of Bile Acid Malabsorbition syndrome, short bowel syndrome, sluggish bowl. I was given Questran powders to take and laxido laxative powders to keep help with obstructions. I have been on Omeprazole since my surgery.
Prior to treatment, I was being admitted to hospital every 6-
I have seen a dietitian and I am on a specialist diet for my conditions. I still have chronic fatigue and I've put on weight but I wasn't exactly super slender to start with.
I am epileptic and the questran was causing to fit in my sleep due to my night time anti convulsants. I am now taking Colestagel. My life's a lot easier now. Things have solidified. I have a restricted diet but I am not exploding so often. I still blow up and fill with gasses but this happens mainly because of something I have eaten. I still get chronic diarrhoea. Some days it just happens with out reason. I still obstruct but I haven't been admitted to hospital since November 2013.
